Al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama Bin Laden has been killed by US forces in Pakistan, President Obama has said.

The al-Qaeda leader was killed in a ground operation outside Islamabad based on US intelligence, the first lead for which emerged last August.

Mr Obama said after "a firefight", US forces took possession of his body.

Bin Laden was accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001.

He was top of the US "most wanted" list.

Mr Obama said it was "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al-Qaeda".

The US has put its embassies around the world on alert, warning Americans of the possibility of al-Qaeda reprisal attacks for Bin Laden's killing.

Crowds gathered outside the White House in Washington DC, chanting "USA, USA" after the news emerged.

Facebook sued for $1 billion over Third Intifada page

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Facebook and its co-founder Mark Zuckerberg are being sued for more than $1 billion for not immediately taking down a page calling for a Third Intifada against Israel.

The lawsuit was filed March 31 in U.S. District Court in Washington on behalf of Larry Klayman, an attorney and activist who is described in the filing as "an American citizen of Jewish origin" who is "active in all matters concerning the security of Israel and its people." Klayman is the founder of Judicial Watch, a conservative public interest group.

Facebook removed the "Third Palestinian Intifada" page on March 29 after it had been up for a couple of weeks and garnered 350,000 friends. Israel's minister of diplomacy and Diaspora affairs,Yuli Edelstein, had sent a letter to Zuckerberg a week earlier asking for the page to be removed. The Anti-Defamation League also had called on Facebook to remove the page.

The page, which called for a third Palestinian uprising to begin May 15, included quotes and film clips calling for killing Jews and Israelis, and for "liberating" Jerusalem and Palestine using violence. It also directed users to related content on Twitter, YouTube and elsewhere on the Internet.

In the lawsuit, Klayman also calls on Facebook to remove from its site all pages using the words “Third Intifada” or any other pages that encourage violence toward Jews.

Facebook said it would fight the case, calling it “without merit,” the French news agency AFP reported.

Meanwhile, a new page with the same name already has attracted thousands of friends, according to reports.

Facebook did not release a statement on last week's removal. But in a statement released to several media outlets in the days before the page's removal, Facebook commented on the Third Palestinian Intifada page controversy.

“While some kinds of comments and content may be upsetting for someone -- criticism of a certain culture, country, religion, lifestyle, or political ideology, for example -- that alone is not a reason to remove the discussion," the statement said. "We strongly believe that Facebook users have the ability to express their opinions, and we don’t typically take down content, groups or pages that speak out against countries, religions, political entities, or ideas.”

Individual posts and comments on the page considered problematic were to be investigated by Facebook and removed, according to reports.

Alhamdulillah kerana kita semua masih bernafas lagi dgn keizinanNya. Saya ingin berkongsi dgn rakan-rakan semua tantang tarian poco-poco yang sedang hangat ditarikan oleh semua lapisan masyarakat, umumnya masyarakat kita yg beragama islam terutama suri-suri rumah dan badan-badan kerajaan ketika manghadiri kursus.

Sebenarnya tarian poco-poco ini berasal dari Filipina bukannya dari Indonesia. Ia ditarikan oleh masyarakat yg berugama kristian ketika mereka menghadiri upacara sembahyang mingguan mereka. Lihatlah sahaja bagaimana pergerakannya, yang membentuk salib.

Mungkin kita tak perasan kerana kita suka mengikut-ikut sesuatu yg baru tanpa usul periksa. Inilah cara musuh-musuh islam mengenakan kita sedangkan kita tahu apabila kita melakukan sesuatu yg menyerupai sesuatu agama maka kita dikira merestui agama itu seperti amalan yoga yg telah difatwakan haram kerana menyerupai agama Hindu. cuma tarian pocoh2 ini belum difatwakan haram lagi. Marilah kita sama2 fikirkan.

Bukankah Nabi SAW dah pesan melalui sabdaan nya ;

“Man tasyabbaha bi qaumin fahua minhum”.

Bermaksud : Barangsiapa yang menyerupai sesuatu kaum, maka seseorang itu terdiri dari kalangan mereka) (iaitu kaum berkenaan)."

Hadis ini juga secara tidak langsung menggambarkan kepada kita bahawa umat Islam perlu kekal dengan identiti dan jatidiri mereka sebagai muslim. Mereka dilarang dari menyerupai golongan musyrikin disebabkan akidah seseorang muslim itu terangkum tiga dimensi iaitu perkataan, perbuatan dan pegangan.

Saya dulu pernah terfikir, kenapa tarian itu dimulakan dari kiri? Dan apa jenis senaman ini? Relevankah tarian ini, yang kelihatan seperti tidak siuman?

Saya menyeru kepada diri anda semua supaya mengambil inisiatif untuk tidak lagi ‘menarikan’ lagi tarian ini yang ternyata mensyirikkan Allah tanpa kita sedar. Dan paling utama memohon keampunan  daripada Allah S.W.T atas kejahilan kita tentang perkara ini sebelum ini.

Semoga mendapat perhatian pihak berkenaan agar mengkaji secara terperinci tentang kesahihan perkara ini,asal usul dan kesannya kepada akidah umat Islam dan mengeluarkan fatwa tentang tarian ini,agar Umat Islam tidak berterusan di dalam kelalaian dan ‘keasyikkan’ menarikan tarian ini.

XIAN, China - Pakar-pakar veterinar menyatakan ia mustahil, tetapi seorang petani, Liu Naiying menganggap kelahiran anak anjingnya sebagai satu keajaiban, lapor sebuah akhbar semalam.

Naiying mendakwa, anak anjing itu dilahirkan oleh seekor biri-biri betina peliharaannya di ladangnya dekat sini, wilayah Shaanxi, tengah China.

Menurut petani tersebut, badan anak anjing itu dipenuhi bulu seperti seekor biri-biri tetapi mulut, hidung, mata, tapak kaki, dan ekornya menyerupai anjing, malah mamalia itu juga gemar bermain bersama anjing-anjing lain.

"Saya sedang menggembala biri-biri baru-baru ini apabila melihat seekor biri-biri menjilat anaknya yang baru lahir. Saya terkejut melihat anak biri-biri itu menyerupai seekor anjing," kata Naiying.

Kini, ladangnya dikunjungi oleh ramai penduduk setempat dan luar daerah yang mahu melihat sendiri anak anjing pelik itu.

Mengulas mengenai kes itu, seorang saintis di sebuah pusat penyelidikan haiwan tempatan, Yue Guozhang berkata, anjing dan biri-biri merupakan dua spesies berbeza.

"Mustahil biri-biri boleh bunting dengan anak anjing. Namun, ia seekor anak biri-biri yang ganjil," katanya

MIRI: An 18-year old student, who obtained multiple As in the SPM examination results announced two days ago, was found dead in bushes on the outskirts of this city.

Police found Tiffany Wong yesterday with her head wrapped in a plastic bag and her body partially buried in a watery channel in Bakam subdistrict, some 40km from here.

The police were led there by a 19-year-old boy who had surrendered himself at the Miri Central Police Station. He was accompanied to the station by his parents. The teenager, a student of an institute of higher learning here, has been detained for further investigation.

Wong, a student of St Joseph Secondary School Miri, was reported missing since Thursday from her home in Morsajaya here, a day after the SPM results were announced. She is believed to have scored at least four As in the public examination last year.

The place where her body was found was a rural road leading to a settlement with numerous farms and villages.

Miri police chief ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim declined to provide details of the case.

“I don’t want to comment on the exact details of the case or speculate on what happened until I receive the full report from my investigating officers.

“My men are investigating the case from all angles. That is all I can say for now,” he said.

Since Thursday, the victim’s parents and friends had sent out emails and SMSes as well as postings on Facebook seeking information about her whereabouts.

One of the Facebook messages read: “Dear friends, I am helping my friend to look for his missing sister. She is 18 years old. She just got her SPM results. She is from St Joseph Miri. She went out yesterday at 11am and never returned home. If you know anyone from St Joseph, please ask them.”

Police have sent the girl’s body to the Miri Hospital for an autopsy.
